I see this outside of “founderdom” as well. I’ve never been a founder per se but spent the last 10 years as a freelancer - and even before always had a side gig. Any major project I take on, there’s about an 18 month period where I feel really connected to the project or content - then around that time I feel disconnected. Like I’ve learned what I wanted to learn. I think it’s how I’m wired. I like to get things up and running, learn what needs to be learned, then in some way move to the next chapter. This is certainly different from losing connection by being literally distant from the work - as you’ve experienced - but the creative connection definitely fades.
