It is high time to standardize 18V and 20V power tool batteries and battery management software, by law if necessary. Currently manufacturers can get away with parts of their tool range being sub-par in the knowledge that switching costs are too high. Battery costs would come down, too, since they really are commodity item now and should be priced accordingly.
