Amtrak has great sleeper cars! If you leave NYC Friday afternoon, you’ll be in LA at 7:30 am Monday morning. The trains take amazing canyon routes ( the Southwest Chief has a Native American guide) and coastal routes.
Back in 2019, myself and my family travelled around Europe for almost a month using trains. Essentially 'interrailing' like we were students! We did several overnight journeys (saves money) including Berlin to Malmö, and up to Narvik from Stockholm. We've also travelled from London to Inverness a few times on the Caledonian Sleeper. The experience on the train is very much part of the 'holiday'.
Great article, I'm a big fan of sleeper trains! Also I'm from Austria so I was very excited to see my homeland mentioned twice :)

So much this, especially in Europe.
